Here it is, the new Alpair 10 Gen. 2. Its a whole new ball game with this driver. Apart from some parts of the frame, this a all-new design and build that moves on from the previous model. There's allot of history on the proto thread so I'll stick to essentials, but with more detail as I "tweaked" right up to the last second prior to mass production.
First off, my thanks to Matsubara san and Taniguchi san. Their work on the rear suspension and coils is superb. My thanks as ever to Even Yu. This guy gave this new built project 199%. I couldn't have asked for more. The Alpair series exist largely thanks to Evan's dedication. My thanks also goes to Lui Yi Ping for a nice "tweaked" front suspension, to Mr Chui being a superb maker of the poly parts; To Rebacca and Will for their work on the cones, And to everyone who's made the effort to get these drivers singing.
1 - Cones. All-new Multiform construction (as per other Gen. 2 Alpairs). The new profile is shallow. The overall depth has been reduced by 20% while 2 additional radii are added to its profile making this cone the most complex we've produced to date.
2 - Suspensions. Lui Yi Ping has "tweaked" the front suspension to reduce load resistance over the first 4-mm of travel. The new Nomex rear suspension is a new light grade synthetic material currently only being used on this driver. Note just how thin it is by looking at the parts pic.
3 - The new coil is a Japan made rectangle wire, tight-wound onto a light alu body. The complete coil assembly weighs under 4g being produced for us by a Japanese maker.
4 - Frame and connectors are all re-designed. The frame includes a new injection moulded seal. This increases the damping factor and makes installation easier. The connectors are new and include extensions for simple cable connection.

Acoustic performance is improved. Central imaging is wider, mids are clearer and highs go further. I wanted to take the 10 allot further this time around. Essentially, you're going to get more of just about everything. More dynamics, range, depth, clarity etc; But no harshness, the Alp10 Gen. 2 remains sweet.

This Alpair 10 is the latest model in a development line designed to extend the performance of mid-sized Markaudio full-range emitters. Measured performance is extended. Vas increases from 21 to 28 litres. Fo is now 36Hz, 4Hz lower than the old model. Total Q increases to 0.33 making this new Alpair 10 usable in larger audio applications.
